Alabama Continuing Education Requirements

Continuing education requirements for mental health professionals licensed in Alabama.

• LMFT: 40 CE hours every 2 years, including 6 ethics hours — 40 hours per 2-year renewal: 6 professional issues and ethics, 6 diagnosis and treatment, 10 clinical MFT workshops. Approved supervisors add 5 supervision hours. Up to 20 hours may be distance learning.
• ALC: 10 CE hours every 1 years, including 2 ethics hours — 10 hours per annual renewal including 2 hours ethics. Distance learning capped at 2.5 hours.
• LPC: 40 CE hours every 2 years, including 6 ethics hours — 40 hours per 2-year renewal including 6 hours ethics. Distance learning capped at 10 hours. Licences expire July 31 of even-numbered years.
